Monday Morning BloomsI am very honored to be invited to be a 'guest bloomer' for Monday Morning Blooms. I have viewed Pam, Mary, Lidy, and Shirley's floral posts from the beginning when it took place on Friday and was called Floral Friday. Then it moved to Monday and was called Monday Morning Blooms. I have been continually inspired for the last three years. Congratulations, ladies for your success.
Let me introduce myself: I am Bonnie of Living With Thanksgiving and my Instagram account is by the same name. I adore flowers and I believe that my mother is the reason because she was so thrilled by every flower. Some of my fondest childhood memories are picking wild violets from the woods, and flowers from her yard, and then arranging them. Now, I have a daughter and she loves flowers, too.
In fact, while visiting my daughter on my birthday, I had the most serendipitous thing to happen. My daughter and I watched a beautiful garden video together on Amazon.
It was a wonderful Garden Tour (The Gardener) that she had seen and I had not. So we watched it together and it was a lovely bonding time. But I digress. After the documentary, her mail arrived and the latest issue of Flower Magazine caught my eye.
Serendipity is the occurrence and development of events in a happy and beneficial way. Watching the program together, with my daughter and then finding the floral arrangement pictured on the magazine cover was indeed serendipity. I knew immediately I wanted to use this idea for Monday Morning Blooms. It was also fortunate, (serendipity?) that my daughter had a head vase exactly like the magazine. Wow, I loved the idea of doing an arrangement in the Grecian bust pot so I raced out and bought flowers and chicken wire to secure the flowers in the bust. Thank you Flower Magazine for the inspiration. It was fun to gather a few flowers and greenery from her garden to add to the Costco flowers and her laundry room was spacious and light-filled making it pleasant to arrange the flowers.I added Lenton Roses and greenery(Arum Italicum) which is also known as Italian Lords and Ladies. To me, adding homegrown flowers to grocery store flowers adds a special touch. I also learned about the app called "Picture This" to find out the name of the greenery.
The flowers I used were Queen Anne's Lace, Daisies, Mums, Bells of Ireland, Coral Roses, Great White Hellebore, Snow Queen Iris, and variegated Italian Lords and Ladies.
My daughter's home has such wonderful light in every room. I loved photographing the arrangement with the wonderful light.
The two of us had so much fun moving from spot to spot.
My daughter is an artist, (amy_schnorrenberg on Instagram). To view her website, click here. Her paintings were perfect backdrops for my floral arrangement.
This head vase is very versatile. Before, seeing the magazine, I had just seen them with plants. Just by using different size flowers, kinds of flowers, and arranging them more loosely you can change the look and take advantage of the versatility of this vase. The possibilities are endless. On the eve of publishing and previewing my post, I discovered the website of the Flower Magazine designer of the cover arrangement, Martha Whiney Butler@The French Potager. Her tutorial is lovely.
My passion for flowers and flower arranging is strong and continues to grow. It is a pleasure to join my special, flower-loving friends, Mary, Pam, Lidy, and Shirley, for Monday Morning Blooms. Click on their links below to view their beautiful posts.

Pam, Thank you for your sweet comments. I had a great time being a guest on MMB. You ladies are so talented. Thank you for including me.
DeleteI agree, we do pass on things that we love like flowers.
I am very proud of Amy. She took a little art in high school but that's all. She basically is self taught.
I am delighted my landscaping crew is here today and preparing the yard for new sod and making some walkways so I am having a delightful day.
I would surely agree that your daughter's painting was the perfect backdrop for your fantastic head vase full. Love the orange in it and the interesting leaves draping down. Quite beautiful-makes you want to stop and look. The orange book too!! Perfection!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ruthie for your nice comments and visit. I am so glad you came by from Pam's blog. I would love to visit your blog but I could not make it link. Sounds like you enjoy the summers on the east coast and winters in Florida. It definitely gets very hot in the summers here and in Florida.
DeleteOh Bonnie, the head vase filled with such lovely flowers is stunning! I love how you and your daughter enjoyed watching the gardening video together and then choosing the flowers. Seeing it displayed in different locations in the house is fun. I have a similar vase but I've always used trailing plants. You've inspired me to try fresh flowers next time. Such a lovely post Bonnie............
ReplyDeleteI saw my first head vase in a garden in Charleston. It had a fern in it and I loved the look. I have a larger concrete head with a pothos in it but it is so heavy I can't move it around. So I love the smaller one like my daughter has and I ordered myself one.
DeleteThanks, Emily for your kind comments and visit.
Your floral arrangement is so beautiful! Girl....you got the gift there! My grandmother loved growing plants and flowers and everyone would always tell her she had a green thumb. I love all those things too. Wish I had time to truly pilfer with it. It's been so wet around our place that I have not tried to do anything yet. LOVE looking at your beautiful florals. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Cindy! I do love to play with flowers and love them all.
DeleteYou're right -- that is serendipitous! And absolutely gorgeous, I might add. I love that your daughter has inherited your passion for flowers. It's all just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, Thanks for your kind words and taking the time to visit.
DeleteAwwwww Bonnie, you certainly deserve to be a guest for Monday Morning Blooms! You arrangement is just so pretty. I had one of the vases, but unfortunately I left mine outside and it got ruined (chipped and nicked). How nice to carry your mom’s love of flowers over to your artistic daughter! I hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteKitty, Thank you for your sweet comment. I loved being a part of MMB.
DeleteI'm sorry your head vase has some issues but the chipped look is in for garden statuary. I've seen them with all kinds of plants that drape and I love the look.
I am visiting from Everyday Living. So very nice to meet you. I love the arrangement in the bust. It is beautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit, Penny. How kind you are.

I think your arrangement is fabulous. I have several of these Grecian bust containers, but they are much smaller. You've given me inspiration to pull them out and see how I might use them. I'll check out her tutorial as well as the video. Glad you had this special time with your daughter. Is she the one in San Antonio?
Thank you Sarah, I appreciate your kind comments.I really did have fun with the bust as a vase. It was an honor to be a part of MMB and be in their company and your company as former guests like you and Kelly. I'm so glad you are interested in getting your Grecian busts out and maybe using them for flowers. Until the magazine photo I had only seen them with plants.
ReplyDeleteMy son lives in San Antonio and my daughter lives in north Alabama. My daughter had been given a subscription to Flower Magazine. I found out the designer of my inspiration photo from Flower Magazine is from Alabama. She now is a florist in Mississippi. I love her work.I am going to subscribe to the Flower Magazine.
