We will all be celebrating the birthday of our country soon. We proudly bring out the red, white and blue of our flag in our decorations to remember our countries heritage.
America means so much to us!
Today, I am joining a blog hop sponsored by Chloe Crabtree @Celebrate and Decorate with a patriotic theme. I am always amazed at the versatility and creativeness of each tablerscaper that participates in these blog hops. The schedule for the blog hop will be listed at the bottom of this post for your viewing. Thank you, Chloe, for organizing these blog hops.
The song," America the beautiful "is so meaningful. Sing along with me and think of the meaning of the words. I thank every leader of our country, every soldier who has fought and served our country, and I acknowledge God's guidance and protection all these years.
Oh, beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern impassioned stress
A thorough-fare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness! America! America! God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self control, Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life! America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness and every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam, Undimmed by human tears! America! America!
God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
I enjoy looking back on previous themed tablescapes and it is fun to see them again. The continual challenge to myself to use what I have in a different way sometimes is hard. You can see other patriotic tablescapes here, here, and here. There are several more there and I am thankful they are gathered together titled tablescapes under my header picture on the navigation bar for easy reviewing.
Having enough light is always a challenge in my home so I opened the shutters but as you can see that was not a good idea. I am always learning!
This red and white runner has proved versatile. I used it Christmas and now in this patriotic tablescape. It was fun to get out my Johnson Brother's Blue Willow transferware dishes for this table since I haven't used them in a long time. I remember well ordering these dishes from Southern Living when we lived in Alaska and that's been thirty years ago!
I have been craving pound cake laden with fruit and whipped cream so this tablescape was a great excuse to have some cake. When I served six servings I realized I needed help eating all this cake so I snagged a few friends on short notice to "eat the props." I texted them a picture of my table and they hurried right over and said they had never "eaten the props before."

Red, White and Blue-tiful Bonnie! I love your use of the Dr. Pepper crate with your layered dishes, mugs and pitcher as a centerpiece...so clever and creative with the memories of your grandfather! When we were growing up we never had soda at home, so it was a treat when we visited my grandparents in the summer, who lived in Mississippi. The first time I had a Coke was out a glass bottle on their porch and I still remember how good and cold it was, probably because it was so HOT there. Now I’m craving pound cake now for breakfast! How fun and delicious for your friends to eat the props. :) Your hydrangea blooms are so gorgeous, big and fluffy and I love the addition of the mini cobalt bottles with the sweet gardenia blooms. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and blog hop with you this week...Long May She Wave!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I love the memories you shared of your grandparents. The use of the Dr. Pepper crate is perfect to hold your stacked plates and beautiful hydrangea blooms. You sound like me, I have a hard time cutting garden blooms to bring inside. I have the Johnson Brothers “willow”:and don’t use it often, it has lots of crazing now from use in the earlier years of marriage. I must get to Wal-Mart to get some of the red stemware, love those. I wish I lived close enough to eat the props, pound cake with fresh fruit is one of my favorite desserts. Your table is gorgeous and it is a great pleasure to blog hop with you! ❤️🇺🇸❤️
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor Pepper crate is perfect for holding your centerpiece, Bonnie! How nice to use your Blue Willow that is 30 years old. Your dessert looks so patriotic, too. I love how you included “America the Beautiful! 🇺🇸
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I would love to come over and eat the props! Your Dr. Pepper crate centerpiece just shouts Americana! So perfect! I love how you stacked your beautiful plates and cups inside it with the red checked cloth, wonderful! Whenever I visit your dining room I can't take my eyes off your daughter's fabulous paintings, wow, and it blends so well with your table! Thanks for singing America the Beautiful 🎶 🇺🇸

So patriotic Bonnie...and nostalgic! I have a coke crate and every time I use it, I think of growing up in rural America. I love your grandparent story and I love that you included the lyrics to "America the Beautiful"! We must have purchased our Blue Willow at about the same time....and I used mine for every day dishes for a long time. Anyway, your table is perfect, sunlight and all. (I don't think I ever get the lighting right) and I don't like to cut my pretty flowers either. LOL but I adore the gardenias in the little blue bottles. AND I have to agree with Jenna...I kept looking at beautiful painting on your wall. I thought to myself...even her painting matches the theme. I always enjoy blog hopping with you....Have a great day and an even better tomorrow.

So beautiful and patriotic Bonnie. How special to have the crate of Dr. Pepper. Love the story you shared of your grandfather. It looks lovely with your plate stack, cups and those gorgeous blooms. I hate to cut my flowers too. The cobalt blue vases look so sweet with your gardenias. The Blue Willow is perfect on this festive table. Always a pleasure to join you and see your inspirational table.
ReplyDeleteIf you sent me a photo of this table and said come on over and help me eat my props- I would throw down what ever it was I was doing and fly over!!! You have created a gorgeous table!! I like the rustic crate styled with your beautiful cups and saucers, a great way to elevate your vase of blooms and flags. But my favorite thing on your table is the wonderful blue print napkins with the red border, a perfect pairing to your placesetting. I always enjoy hopping with you! Hope you have a wonderful summer!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie so nice to meet you and see your glorious creativity at work! The Dr. Pepper crate is inspired; my husband secretly loves Dr. Pepper and drinks a can of it while driving home from work. I need to keep my eyes open for a crate like this for him. We both love old things. I also appreciate seeing ALL the verses of America the Beautiful. That song never fails to bring tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful when there is a story to go along with a tablescape and your sweet tale of the glass bottles of Dr. Pepper is just that. How wonderful that you finally found an occasion to use the crate. This is such a wonderful way to use it, by styling it with additional pieces from your dish collection. Are the glasses a recent purchase from Walmart? I am always looking for colored glassware. That is so cute that your friends mentioned never eating "props" before! Weren't they lucky that day!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I've had those glasses from Wal Mart for years. They are a great color. I made a note of that since your question in the table details.
DeleteCan I tell you how much I love this and why, Bonnie? First of all, the memories you recreated with the crate and dessert are priceless. The versatility with the runner and repurposing with the pill bottles are genius. The flowers from the garden are resourceful. Printing the words to America, the Beautiful is a wonderful lesson for us all. Too many of us know the first verse only, and seeing the additional verses really shows the power in those words. We all need to heed those words with heart! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love the charming centerpiece featuring the Dr. Pepper crate! Your whole table is simply lovely! It is a pleasure to be joining you for the hop this week! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
DeleteThankful for google translate.
Loving that crate and those pretty blue and white dishes! What a festive and beautiful tablescape for our Countries celebration! Love it, love it, love it! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteGreat post with the beloved "America, the Beautiful. Love the centerpiece and I, too, am a fan of 'Dr. Pepper.' Your flowers are gorgeous and I so love the cobalt pill bottles.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a Happy 4th of July!
Oh you brought back memories for me. Not only did we buy sodas in glass bottles but we sold the bottles back to the store later in the week. As kids, we were so proud to 'earn' our own money! I love the way you used the Dr. Pepper crate. It's a wonderful centerpiece with the Hydrangea and additional dishes. I will now be singing America The Beautiful in my head all day and I won't rest until I make a pound cake!
ReplyDeleteI love everything on this table but it's truly that red Dr. Pepper crate that takes the (short)cake! Lovely, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that Dr. Pepper crate! It makes a great centerpiece! Loving all your patriotic touches added to your blue transferware. Great way to celebrate the red, white, and blue.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I love your runner, the red and blue glassware, and of course, your beautiful flowers. My favorite is the Dr Pepper crate. Growing up, the dad of one of the girls in my Blue Bird troop was a VP at Dr Pepper. We always had Dr Pepper at our meetings. We were the first to try hot Dr Pepper!! It’s still my soda of choice. You brought back lots of great memories.

ReplyDeleteI admire your lovely table and the centerpiece is so much fun. I know what you mean about cravings, now I want pound cake with berries and cream ( wink). Everything about your lovely table celebrates America and the song throughout is a wonderful touch. It's a joy to be on the hop with you. ( sorry had to rewrite my comment, typeo's)
ReplyDeletenice article.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
Such a pretty patriotic table! I love the Dr. Pepper crate and how it brings back memories of your granddaddy. Wishing you a very happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, your table is so pretty, and I must confess that I am coveting your Dr. Pepper crate. How adorable, and what a cute idea for the Fourth!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to see all your treasures out on the table to celebrate this special holiday. Hope you had a lovely 4th weekend.

Wow Bonnie, you knocked it out of the park with this one! I love your creativity using the Dr. Pepper crate for your centerpiece. I always stumble when it comes to creating a red, white and blue table, so I really appreciate those who can make it so beautiful! Summer is closing off too quickly. I hate it when August appears - the littles go back to school so early now and that means the summer is over!!! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
