O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us, O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us. They're green when summer days are bright; They're green when winter snow is white. O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, Your branches green delight us.
The decorated fir tree was first used in Germany about the time of Martin Luther. The German words "O Tannenbaum" were set to a tune and was so well known and loved in America that the tune was used during the Civil War as "Maryland, My Maryland."
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, You give us so much pleasure!

Merry Christmas sweet friend..

Bonnie, what a beautiful table and Christmas tree!! I love the cute, kissing Santa and Mrs. Claus salt & pepper shakers. The glasses are stunning and unlike any I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteYou are right in style with your tablecloth. Plaid seems to be everywhere this season and it's a perfect complement for the Spode. Don't you find getting those dishes out is like saying hello to an old friend? We eat on ours almost every night in December.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees, Bonnie! The table is set so lovely with the tablecloth, pretty green stems and the Christmas plates.....Christine
ReplyDeleteI love the way you used the song as your inspiration. Beautiful! Thanks for visiting me.
ReplyDeleteI love how the tablecloth looks with the dishes and stemware. Very pretty
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a plaid tablecloth with those colors in it!!! It's hard to find one that includes the blue!!!
ReplyDeleteWow...your tree is TALL!!!!!!!! Great googly goo, I'd hate to be the one to have to decorate that!!! There isn't a ladder tall enough in this house to tackle that job!!! You did a great job with it!!!
Love your Spode plates!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! Oh, your tree is so pretty and the little red cardinal is darling! Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I never knew the history of that song before. Your Christmas tree and table setting is beautiful! I like those Christmas glasses too.
ReplyDeleteThe glasses with the trees are GORGEOUS!!! Where did you find them? Love the tablecloth too! Fun and pretty table.
ReplyDeleteThe gold tree tumbler is exquisite, and it looks beautiful with the Lenox Green Holiday Gem goblet. The kissing Santas bring back sweet childhood memories. I need to get out my Spode Christmas Tree dishes. They always delight. Thanks for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteBonnie, What a sweet salt and pepper set with Mr & Mrs Clause kissing. I have been looking all over for green stemware like yours, no luck so far, but there is still a little time. Your tablescape is lovely, I do love a plaid tablecloth for the holidays they are always so festive.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! Your table is so pretty and love the Christmas plaid tablecloth you've used. The trees are so lovely too. Merry merry,
ReplyDeleteShelia ;)
Looking at your beautiful table makes me want to go back to Marshalls to buy the plaid table cloth I picked up and put down and also the Spode Christmas plates.
ReplyDeleteThanks for convincing me I need them - hope they are still there tomorrow.
Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm running behind with my visiting -- yet again. I have meant to leave you a comment for over a week now. This is such a pretty post!! Your Christmas tree is just beautiful, Bonnie! I love the table you've set with the pretty plaid tablecloth. I've seen so many pretty tartan plaids this time of the year, and I never tire of them. Your drinking glasses are pretty, pretty; I've never seen any like them. And I love that you have the cardinal at the top of your little tabletop tree -- what a great idea.
Thanks for sharing your pretty decor with us, and I enjoyed the history of "O Tannenbaum." I hope you are having a joyful Christmas season!
Hugs,
Denise
