Lunch on the Porch

We spend so much time on our porch and eat at this table quite a bit because the ceiling fans keep us cool. I have enjoyed the two white hydrangeas so much  in pots on my porch. I bought one to plant in my garden and then received the other for Mother's Day. I  will miss them on the porch because the blossoms are  sadly beginning to fade. It occurred to me I should do a tablescape before they did.

Since I got married in the seventies everything is vintage including the planter but the flatware, napkins and placemats.
Napkins are from World Market, Flatware from Williams Sonoma and placemats from a local gift shop.

I have a large serving bowl that goes with the salad bowls. I love the colors!

Remembered this little birdhouse later. My daughter painted it in high school.

Apple Pecan Chicken with pomegranate  vinaigrette dressing. Yes, you guessed it from WENDY'S and Milo's sweet tea. After working in the garden all morning a girl doesn't have time to cook. Anyway, I love this salad with blue cheese and cranberries and treat myself with it often in the summer.

I have chuckled to myself that I felt like Carolyn Roehm in her white garden at her Weatherstone home in Connecticut. Her books are so gorgeous and I swoon everytime I look at them. She has a new one out that she did the photography in herself called, FLOWERS.

  3. Wouldn't it just be the bees knees to live Carolyn Roehm's charmed life? Wow...I love everything she does! I have 3 of her books, and I refer to them often!

You mean those bowls are vintage?!??!?!! They look very au courant!!! Like something either Pier 1 or Target would carry with those brilliant peacock colors, y'know? They're so pretty!

I love it that you have a mirror on your porch! If I had a covered porch, I would have one, too! When I lived in a 1920s condo with a screened-in porch years ago, I had artwork, a fan, everything! It was great! Our current home has an open deck that faces south. We REALLY need to get something to cover it going out there. We could burn alive in summer!!!!!

Have fun planting your hydrangea! I hope they bring you years of joy! have a good weekend!!!

  4. Bonnie, this is just beautiful. I have 2 planters of Blushing bride hydrangeas that stay on our deck. I bought them several years ago for a wedding we had in our yard and never got them in the ground...they have continued to bloom happily in the pots. yours look like that hydrangea...are they? anyway, love your flowers and especially those glasses...so pretty..I will have to try that salad at Wendy's..we hardly ever go there...
    Love, Mona

  5. Hi Bonnie,

What a wonderful porch you have!! It's no wonder you like to spend lots of time there in the summer. Your bistro set is darling, and I love your pretty blue and white garden stool!

Your tablescape is just right for summer, Bonnie. I LOVE those salad bowls, and the best thing is that all those colors are really popular now. Your hydrangeas are really lovely -- a great inspiration for a tablescape. I'm sure they'll be pretty planted in your garden.

Thanks for your visit and sweet comments, Bonnie; it's always so good to hear from you. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  13. What a sweet spot...and those black lanterns on stands...love those! Your hydrangeas are gorgeous...if they're potted just put them in some sun for a couple of hours and add some water they should do fine...Can't recall the name of that variety but I think they only want 4 to 6 hours of sun a day? (course I could be talking out of my nose if they are not potted and they're cut flowers...sorry!) LOL
