The stone wall has made so much difference. It helps hold the water for the plants.

Added this after posting yesterday. My daughter -in-law gave me the pretty tortoiseshell vase. Sadly, my hydrangeas are fading due to the heat. They are now a beautiful green and some are tipped in purple shades. I love all color hydrangeas.

This is a pic from early spring before the wall was begun.
Bed in progress. Bedding plants waiting to be planted and straw to be added. I like how the wall unifies the space. It is no longer floating but defines the space. What do you think?

I think your garden is beautiful! Your hydrangeas are huge. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the wall is a great addition, Bonnie!! I am so impressed with your gardening skills, and it looks like you have a lovely area to work with. And as always, I want some of those hydrangeas. :) Did you build the wall yourself? If so, you did a terrific job.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you shared this and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Hi, I've come over from Easonal Sunday and just love your garden. I am going to add myself to your followers so that I can keep up with you! Joan
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous garden! That new stone wall really adds elegance and definition -- love it! I envy you those amazing hydrangeas. I wish I could grow some blue ones! Thank you for your kind comments on my table last week -- I'm late "visiting back," but have been out of town.
ReplyDeleteWonderful garden...trying hygrangeas for the first time this year. I just love them but living in Southeast Texas they do not care for our climate too much. I am having to baby them along quite a bit and they are thriving in spite of me!!! I love your garden and would love to add some beauty like that to our backyard!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hydrangeas and your yard is great too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a park, Perfect for an outdoor wedding! Did you and Mike make the stone wall? Love it. Maxine
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE how that looks! Your backyard is laid out similarly to ours. We have grass and then a pinestraw edge up against the woods with bushes. Yours, however, looks much better than ours! My husband has always wanted to do a decorative stone wall like that. It would help against erosian and add an attractive element to the landscaping. I will be sure to show him your pics. Maybe that will motivate him sooner! Ha!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Bonnie! I love the addition of your stacked stone wall and its graceful curves! Your hydrangeas are lovely~ I love them in their faded green/blue state :)
ReplyDeleteOh! It really makes a difference! Looks like a lot of work, too, but the results are great!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely grounds! Love love love your beautiful garden, especially the walled hydrangea garden with the little stone bench and bird bath planter. A beautiful place to stroll and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Your blue hydrangea bushes look absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your wonderful garden with us and for your sweet comment. Have a lovely evening!Hugs,Poppy
ReplyDeleteYour garden is spectacular and with so many areas in drought, damaging weather I know your grateful for the perfect garden.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Kathy
Absolutely gorgeous hydrangeas!!! I'd love to give them a try here in Tennessee. Though I'm not sure how I'll keep the deer from eating them. I hear they eat everything around here!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at what a difference your rock wall has made in your garden. I am definitely going to show them to my husband. We've done some work with rocks, but ours doesn't look nearly as nice as yours. The wall brings definition and a little bit of formality that I really like.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog. Saint Remy is by far our favorite city in France and we would live there in a heart-beat if we were younger.
